So I’m not doing most of the art for the game I’m working on, but I am planning out some backgrounds! So here’s the layout for the inside of the inn, and one for the beach. The arrows will later be buttons that take you to the other locations. You can tell I’m serious about this game because I actually attempted to relearn perspective, haha… I’m still working on it, but I think it’s getting easier.
Also I’m supposed to be writing one of the routes now, I keep having more responsibilities, haha… I’m not sure if we’ll actually finish the game in a month, but we’ll at least have a lot of it done, and it’ll be cooler than if we’d just tried to simplify it to save time.
So I’ve been really busy working on a game with some friends, we’re trying to make the whole thing in November so it’s pretty challenging! I haven’t had much stuff to post about it since I’m not the primary artist for this one (I’m doing all the programming and some game design/planning/logistics stuff), but here’s the inventory screen that I’m working on. You click on the items and it’ll show you the large image, name, description and price for that item. It’ll look nicer in the final one (and there won’t be doughnuts and potatoes) but I thought I’d post a little preview thing.
Sketch commission for azaraih for their girlfriend. I looooove character designs like this!
Bonus chibi from me since it’s a belated birthday gift. Neuf’s perfectly dressed for the occasion. Hope you guys had a celebration. Thanks for commissioning me :D
Happy birthday Jessica! :] I hope you like it!
So I started working on another game… I still want to work on my haunted house one, but it ended up getting really complex and now I think it’d be better to start with something a little more straightforward. So now I’m working on a cute fantasy adventure game!
These are my initial designs for the protagonists. You play as a little girl from a small town who wants to learn magic who teams up with a magical sentient sword that’s looking for its previous owner. So you travel around to new places, learn magic, fight stuff, find treasure, etc.
I’m pretty excited about this game… I already programmed an inventory system with clothes and weapons you can equip, healing items, etc. so there’s going to be a ton of cool items you can find. I’m going to start working on the combat system next…
I haven’t had a chance to do much drawing with my tablet lately, but today I felt compelled to draw Casca with blood on his face. I don’t… really know why… I like his hair in this one though.
Since I still haven’t finished coloring the picture for my horror game that I was working on, I thought I’d post a couple things from the practice game I made. I wanted to work on coding using Ren’py so I just made a scifi high school game with some of my characters in it.
The art is all drawn with a mouse to stop myself from spending too much time on it, haha…
So one of the cool things I made was a cooking minigame. I wanted to try doing stuff with click+drag, so I made it so you can drag food items into the pot. After you’re done cooking, the other characters will try it and judge whether it tastes good, based on the ingredients you chose.
If this was a real game you could add more ingredients though, haha.
Another cool part I worked on was a fighting game you can play with your friends in the game. You have a better chance of winning if you built up your video games skill earlier in the game (instead of your academics…). I made some little animated character sprites for it, which was pretty fun.
I’ve learned a lot more Python since making this one so I could probably make a more efficient one now, but it’s still pretty cool.
I like making minigames! I just want to make games all the time….
Wow, I have not been on tumblr in a while! I’ve been really busy with a lot of things, like graduating and all that. I’ve also started working on making visual novel games using Ren’py, which is pretty exciting. I’m going to be working on several projects, but I thought I would post some early sketches of what I’m working on for the horror game I’m planning out. I really love haunted house stories…
I’ll post more about the game later, hopefully with some pictures that are a little more finished.
So I was kind of inspired by aidosaur’s tarot card picture so I ended up making one for Casca. I don’t know a lot about tarot but I looked up some meanings and the seven of swords makes sense for him. This was a lot of fun to make, I kind of want to make a few more, haha.
This picture looks sort of weird to me now, but it’s already done so I’m just going to put it here… I liked doing the shading on this one though.
Some Casca doodles I’ve been doing. I’ve been trying to design a cool coat for him so I ended up drawing him in a bunch of different ones (the real one probably won’t look like any of these though). Also I watched all of Utena recently so I drew a bunch of characters as duelists… I really like the duelist outfits…
Here’s a character design thing I’m working on…
I didn’t really feel like doing shading on this one… Anyway, here’s Casca’s mom and another lady, I guess when they were younger? I really need to practice drawing older people, haha. And I should really figure out a consistent style of fantasy clothes. So much stuff to do.
I thought I would do some more lineless art, so here’s a picture of Naia. I was really supposed to be doing work today, I’m kind of terrible, haha…
I’ve been drawing Az a lot lately… I just felt like drawing him with a hat for some reason. Oh yeah, this is the first thing I’ve done in photoshop cs6, I finally got a new version after having cs2 for forever. It works pretty well so far!
